Carla Jean Newman

Carla Jean Newman, 91, a resident of Summit, passed away on February 1, 2026 at SMRMC. Services will be announced at a later date. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Carla was born September 12, 1934 in Casper, Wyoming. She was the daughter of the late Carl M. and Laura Bicknell Harris. Carla was a Court Clerk for many years, a member of DAR (Judith Robinson Chapter) and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading, planting her favorite flowers (Daffodils), traveling, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Newman whom she married in 1950, and 1 granddaughter Tammy Idelle Seals.

She is survived by her son David Newman (Lori); 3 daughters, Tera Perini, Barbara Flowers and Linda Newman (Steven Hanisch); a sister Mary Adelle Rankl; 14 grandchildren, David Seals, Paul Seals, Lauri Thornton, Scott Flowers, Michelle Flowers, Laura Arnold, James Drouin, Jean "Jon" Drouin, Christopher Drouin, Angela Drouin, Jennifer Newman, Shelley Jones, Nicole Newman and Hannah Long; with numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
