Carolyn Sue Hamilton

1946 - 2025

Carolyn Sue Hamilton, 78, of Brookhaven and formerly of McComb passed away August 2, 2025 at her residence.

Visitation was held on August 7, at Central Baptist Church, Brookhaven from 12 Noon until Celebration of Life Services at 3 PM. Burial followed at Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of Hartman Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Ryan Thurman will officiate. Pallbearers were Garrett, Adam, Larkin and Maverick Smith, Jared Applewhite and Bryan Hamilton.

Mrs. Hamilton was born in McComb, on December 1, 1946, to the late Grady and Evelyn Smith. Her early life in McComb, followed by a number of years in Baton Rouge before returning to her hometown. She attended McComb High School, where she met the man who would become her devoted husband, Bill Hamilton. They settled just outside McComb where she bore two sons, Mark and Michael Hamilton.

Faith and family were the twin pillars of Sue’s world. Both she and her husband were extremely active in the First Baptist Church of McComb, where they both served in innumerable ways. Her unwavering faith and selfless dedication were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Sue was utterly devoted to caring for her family, from raising her two sons full time to donating bone marrow to her brother Glen, to serving as her mother’s caregiver in the final years of her life. She gave everything she had to give, and she gave it with love. We will miss her greatly, remember her with love, and take comfort in her long awaited and welldeserved reunion with her beloved husband.

Mrs. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Evelyn Smith; her beloved husband Bill Hamilton; 2 brothers Glen and Keith Smith.

She is survived by 2 sons Mark Hamilton (Vicky); Michael Hamilton; 2 brothers Grady Smith Jr. (Bubba); David Smith (Pam); 7 grandchildren Erin & Bryan Hamilton and their mother Shawn Dykes; Caitlin & Tyler Hamilton and their mother Becky Hamilton; Larkin Smith (Shelby), Maverick Smith (Marissa), Jared Applewhite (Alexis); four great grandchildren Adnil, Abigail, Sophie and Layton Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
