Steele 1958 - 2025

Claudette Rae Steele, 67, of McComb, passed away on December 4, 2025.

Born on August 1, 1958, in Jennings, LA, Claudette grew up surrounded by the warmth of her hometown and the love of her closeknit family.

She was the

daughter of Sherman and Kathleen LeJeune, and the oldest of 5 sisters. Claudette cherished her role as the big sister to Charlotte Whittington, Lawana Abarca, Karen LeJeune, and Jody Speight.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Lawana, Karen, and Jody.

Claudette graduated from the University of South Louisiana, where she studied business—an education she carried proudly into her career. She spent many years working as an office manager in manufactured home sales, known for her efficiency, dedication, and steady presence.

Outside of work, Claudette lived life with enthusiasm and a bit of grit. She loved anything fast and loud—cars, motorcycles, and the thrill that came with them. Her adventurous spirit was balanced by a deep devotion to her Catholic community. She found joy in volunteering with St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where her generous heart and willingness to help were felt by many.

Above all, Claudette loved her family. She is survived by her son, Stoney (Kathryn); her 2 grandsons, Jaxson (Amaya) and Mason Steele; and her sister Charlotte who brought her tremendous pride and happiness, and she was deeply loved by them in return.

Claudette will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and the energy she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the family who loved her dearly and in the many lives she touched along the way.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, from 11AM to 1PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb, with a memorial service to follow immediately after with Rev. Trent Bilbo officiating.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church McComb, MS or one of its many charities in her honor.
