Earnest Lee Coon 1944 - 2025

Earnest Lee Coon, 81 of Jayess, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at his residence. He was born Friday, February 18, 1944 in Walthall County. A private service will be held at a later date.

Earnest spent his lifetime working as a construction supervisor in gas refineries. Anyone who knew him, knew that his work ethic was very important to him, and getting things done right was the one thing he knew best. His lifelong passion was rebuilding and racing fast classic cars with his son, Allen, with Mopar being his favorite. He was also well known for the beautiful swings and picnic tables that he took pride in making. This year would have been his 60th year as a freemason.

He was preceded in death by his first love and wife of 40 years, Wilda Howell Coon; his second wife, Eva Mae Roberts Coon; his son, Allen Coon; his parents, Alvie & Zula Mae Dunaway Coon; and 1 brother, Danny Ray Coon.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Schwartz (Edward); 2 brothers, Douglas Vernon Coon (Joyce), Jerry Coon (Sylvia); 2 sisters, Kathy Martin (Floyd), Sheila Arnold (Keith); 9 grandchildren, Brandon Ragas (Emily), Fletcher Durrer, Josie Durrer, Preslee Holloway, Joshua Coon (Alicia), Candace Dufrene (Haily), Kateline Corkern (Robert), Fred Schwartz, and Stuart Pasley; 7 great grandchildren, Ayden Ragas, Anthony Ragas, Gage Ragas, Rayne Jellison, Liam Ty Coon, Jeremiah Allen Coon, Olivia Corkern; and numerous nieces & nephews.
