Guy Shelton Little

Guy Shelton Little, age 89, passed on March 20, 2026, at his home in Flowood, surrounded by the love of his family.

Visitation was held on May 16, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb from 9AM until services at 10AM. Dr. Jimmy Porter and Sis. Connie Felter did officiate and the family had a private burial in Hazelhurst.

Born on January 26, 1937, in Pinola, MS, Shelton was the son of Guy Artis Little and Mary Alice Davis Little.

He was a proud graduate of Mars Hill School, Class of 1956, and continued his education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. From an early age, Shelton demonstrated a strong work ethic, a steady spirit, and a deep sense of responsibility to those around him.

Shelton honorably served his country in the United States Army, reflecting his lifelong sense of duty and quiet patriotism. He went on to build a long and respected career with Farm Bureau Insurance, serving as Agency Manager across Pike, Bolivar, and Humphreys Counties from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. He was known not only for his professionalism and leadership, but for the way he treated people—with fairness, patience, and genuine care.

On May 28, 1963, Shelton married the love of his life, Kay Johns. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, stability, and deep family connection.

A devoted member of Centenary Methodist Church of McComb, Shelton's faith was central to who he was. He lived it daily—quietly, consistently, and without need for recognition. Shelton was a man of integrity, humility, and kindness. He had a calm, steady presence that made others feel at ease, and a subtle sense of humor that brought joy to those who knew him well. He was dependable, thoughtful, and deeply devoted to his family—always showing up, always giving, and always putting others first.

Shelton found joy in the simple things in life. As a Master Gardener, he loved working outdoors and nurturing what he planted. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and keeping up with sports. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, taking pride in their lives and accomplishments and cherishing every moment together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Artis Little and Mary Alice Davis Little; his brothers, Mack Little and Freddie Guy Little; and his sister, Frances Little Slay.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Little; his daughter, Laura McDavitt, and her family Houston, Thomas, Watson, Archer, Theo, and Dottie Jo; his son, Jeff Little and grandchildren, Sarah Shelton Little and Jack Little; and his sisters, Joyce Little Wells, Mildred Little Tilson, and Martha Little Traxler. His family was his greatest pride and his greatest joy.

Honorary pallbearers included Paul Breckenridge, Mark Mize, Steve Warren, Mike Wimberly, Tommy Allen, Tim Tillson, and Bryan Johns.

Special thanks extended to the warm and caring staffs of Hearts of Hospice and the Visiting Angels.

Shelton will be remembered for his steady presence, his gentle strength, and the quiet, meaningful way he lived his life. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
