Harriett Farmer Wood, age 97, of Summit, passed away on May 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, faith, and devotion to family. Born on July 11, 1928, she grew up in Lexington, MS, the daughter of Byrd and Clara Dell Farmer. There she developed the values and strength of character that would guide her throughout her life. While working as an x-ray technician in Jackson, she met her future husband, Dr J.O. Wood. They married on July 11, 1952, and raised 5 children together. Of all the roles Harriett held throughout her life, her greatest joy was being a mother. She was a constant source of love, guidance, and encouragement to her children. She instilled in them strong morals and values, along with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a lifelong love of animals. Harriett lived with grace, compassion, and quiet strength. Guided by her Christian faith, she treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. Her passionate spirit, honesty, and unwavering love touched countless lives. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, tolerance, honesty, and devotion that continues through her children, grandchildren, and future generations. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Harriett is survived by her sister, Pat Farmer; daughters, Deborah Lynn Lovin (Gary Lovin) and Edith Faye Wood (Robert Warner); sons, Joseph Marc Wood and David Theodore Wood (Debra Ann Wood); 8 grandchildren, Blake Germaine, Logan Wood (Ari Wood), Joseph Wood, Jeff Wood, Taylor Maturin, Rosemary Warner, Claire Warner, and Benjamin Warner; and 7 great grandchildren, Sterling Wood, Rowan Wood, Aaliyah Wood, Abel Wood, Haylee Wood, Jordan Collins, and Cole Collins. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Otis Wood; and daughter, Harriet Gail Wood. Funeral services were held at HartmanJones funeral home on May 30. Visitation was at 10AM followed by the funeral service at 11AM. Sis. Connie Felter did officiate and burial was in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb.
