International relations is about business, not politics by Daniel Gardner, Special to the Gazette

Politicians and political movements are only interested in staying in power. President Obama didn’t care about President Putin’s move to take Crimea.

Russia “annexed” Crimea, a Ukrainian province, in February-March 2014. President Obama did not interfere with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Despite all the media hoopla about President Trump’s relationships with Russia from 2016 to the end of his first term, President Trump held a positive relationship with Ukraine, and Russia did not threaten to invade Ukraine.

From the beginning of President Biden’s term when he announced plans to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, his missteps in foreign relations began four years of extreme American weakness on the world stage.

In ten short months, Russia began assembling an invasive force on the Russia-Ukraine border. In response, President Biden said, “Don’t.” Literally. That was all he said. President Biden didn’t care about President Putin’s move to take Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The Biden administration hemmed and hawed about how to respond to Russia and whether to send military support to Ukraine. The war that started then is still going on today, three-and-a-half years later. Sunday Jake Sullivan, Biden’s National Security Advisor said, “There was no war when Trump came into office (January 2025).”

Politicians don’t care about the truth.

Russia’s impending invasion of Ukraine had been no secret to anyone for more than a decade. President Trump’s election in 2016 began to reestablish America’s leadership internationally. Americans elected Trump despite overwhelming subterfuge and collusion from … not Russia, but from remains of Obama’s Intel and Law Enforcement leaders, Democrats in Congress and the Washington bureaucracy along with the complicit legacy media.

In other words, as we have been learning the past 4 or 5 months from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and whistleblowers from innumerable Congressional committees, nefarious federal employees and other bad actors have conspired “to take down” President Trump at all costs.

What were reactions from Trump’s Democrat opponents, Trump Derangement Syndrome media, and the usual naysayers after Trump and Putin met? “It’s been two days, and Trump has failed to do what he promised!!!”

Did you hear President Putin himself mock the TDS crowd of naysayers? In his final remarks after meeting with President Trump last Friday, Putin said, “Today when President Trump saying that if he was the president back then there would be no war. And I’m quite sure that indeed it would be so. As I confirm that. I think that overall, me and President Trump have built a very good businesslike and trustworthy contact and have every reason to believe that moving down this path we can come and suit it better to the end of the conflict in Ukraine. Thank You.”

Putin was more interested in making a business than politics.

The American political class does not care about people. Putin played business, while Obama and Biden played politics. Mindless infantile games never helped voters.

On the other hand, President Trump builds business deals through strength. He has made America great again through his business prowess.

Americans’ successes are his number 1 goal.

The end goal of the talks is two-fold: 1. Stop the killing. 2. Provide unbreachable multi-national military defense against Russia for Ukraine and other national neighbors.
