Is it over yet?

September 11, 2001, came out of nowhere. No warning. Literally a bright sun shiny day across America. September 12, 2001, dawned with a lot of deep, dark questions and very few answers or explanations. The day before became 9/11, an All-American day forever!

The years immediately following 9/11 began with shock and grief that unexpectedly bloomed into years of national unity and even patriotism. Time was trying to heal the deadly wounds of 2,977 people who were murdered that day. Seven years later Americans elected a surprising newcomer with a distinctive Muslim name and a worldwide political platform. The audacity of that election cracked the patina of the All-American nation.

President Obama's two terms in the White House shook American politics like a big dog ripping a ragdoll. After winning the presidency in 2016, President Trump asked the people and the world to hold his beer. He didn't drink beer or any other liquor, but he bled red, white, and blue! Radical politics became All-America Again! MAGA!

President Trump's election attracted billions of dollars back into Democrat and opposition coffers. Of course, the Democratic nominee for president, Hillary Clinton refused to accept defeat to the point of literally creating a "Big Lie" conspiracy theory supported by Obama's FBI, CIA, DOJ, and the progressive mainstream media. "Crossfire Hurricane."

Twenty-five years after 9/11, September 12, 2026, felt different. More than 100 million Americans have no living memory of the event. The rest of us have memories, but they're clouded by all the junk between now and then. Why did 19 Islamic terrorists commit themselves to suicidal terrorism? Why did millions around the world praise them as heroes?

Some Islamic sects teach true disciples to kill "infidels" or unbelievers. Those involved in planning and executing 9/11 had no scruples at all about murdering 2,977 innocent people. In their beliefs they were doing what Allah had told them to do. Not all Muslims believe this, but 19 Muslims backed by millions of others scattered around the world still believe this religiously today. "Death to America!" "Death to Israel!"

It would be nice to live in a world where people lived together in peace with no inclinations to kill others. In Matthew 5:9 Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God."

First we must accept the truth that "some people" want to kill us. Sadly, we've witnessed Americans justifying murdering others for what they said or for what they stood for. We've witnessed college campus protests calling for the genocide of Israelis with chants of "From the river to the sea!" Antisemitic attacks have increased dramatically not only in America but around the world.

After accepting that truth comes the hard part. Why don't we just make a law? Exodus 20:13 "You shall not murder." Ok, now what? There is no higher authority than God. Romans 3:10 "There is none righteous, not even one." Romans 3:23-24 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus."

Maybe it's not about us trying to bring peace to the world. Maybe God is the only One Who can do that. Jesus Christ cried out from His cross, "It is finished, paid in full!"
