Jerry Wayne Wicker, 68, of Smithdale, left his earthly home for a heavenly one on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on October 3, 1957, in Centreville, MS. He was the son of the late Edwin J. Wicker Sr. and Hazel Havard Wicker.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14, from 1PM till services at 3PM at Calvary Baptist Church of Smithdale. Bro. Bruce Crosby, Bro. Basil Wicker and Bro. Curtis Ready did officiate. Burial followed in the adjoining church cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements.
Jerry lived in the Smithdale community his entire life and after graduation from the University of Southern Miss, he started his vocation and full career in the educational field as a teacher and later years as a School Counselor. While he enjoyed his vocation, he had a passion for cattle farming his entire life and upon retirement dedicated himself to farming full-time, and to his LORD, his family, and his church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and farming. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Smithdale, MS. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Paul Daniel Bourg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Laura Ory Wicker; daughter, Haley Wicker (William); and stepdaughter, Tena Hall (James); 1 brother, James Wicker (Ginger); 2 sisters, Dianne Burch (David) and Betty Spring (Johnny); 3 grandchildren, Jaden, Kayla and Tiffany; with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were William Lambert, James Hall, Cody Ready, Andrew Wicker, Matt Spring and Luke Parson.
Honorary pallbearers were the Calvary Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
