Michael Alan Newman, 72, from McComb, passed away on March 15, 2026, at the McComb Community Care Center in McComb after a brief illness. A private family service will be held at a later date. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Michael was born in McComb, on June 27, 1953. He is the son of the late Nellie Jean Burris and John Edward Newman. Mike was brought up attending J.J. White Presbyterian Church of McComb. Mike was full of eclectic interest. In his younger years he enjoyed hiking and his love for the outdoors and exploring nature continued. He enjoyed spending time at family property in Amite County, hunting, fishing and camping. He loved history and shared this passion with his children and grandchildren, always with treasures to show off. Despite years of traveling for his sales job, he was always up for a road trip. He enjoyed any time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dr. Jeffrey Newman; and 1 grandson, John Harris Savoie.
He is survived by his son, John "Hunter" Newman (Misty); 2 daughters, Nina Newman Savoie (Joseph) and Meg Elise Newman; 4 grandchildren, Allison Newman, Atticus Newman, Everett Newman and Clay Savoie; 1 niece, Holly Newman Kleiman (Dave).
In honor of his beloved grandson, the family asks that in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Ochsner Clinic Foundation Pediatric Family Assistance Fund or National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation.
The family would like to acknowledge and extend a heartfelt thank you to Mike Brown and McComb Community Care Center.
