Philip E. Evans, Sr. 1939 - 2026 Mr. Philip E.

Evans, 87, of Magnolia, passed from this life on July 8, 2026, at SMRMC. He was born on June 28, 1939, to Robert Evans, Sr. and Martha Case Evans. A visitation was held at South McComb Baptist Church on July 11, from 9AM until time of service at 11AM with Dr.

David Millican officiating. A graveside service immediately followed at Hollywood Cemetery, with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Philip dedicated his entire life to the trade of brick masonry.

Known for his steady hands and quiet determination, work was as much about integrity as it was about skill --- he always ensured each brick was laid with care and respect for the people who would use the structures he built. He was a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, Philip found strength and peace in his faith, which guided his daily choices and inspired his service to others. He was active member of South McComb Baptist Church his whole life, where he served as a deacon.

Outside of work and worship, Philip enjoyed hunting and fishing a little when he was able to go. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara S. Evans; sons, Gregory Sterling Evans and Dr.

Vernon Scott Evans; and 2 brothers, Robert Evans and Gordon "Buddy" Evans. He is survived by 2 sons, Phil Evans, Jr. and his wife Anna and Chuck Evans and his wife Kay; 1 brother-inlaw, Paul Sterling; 4 sisters-in-law, Frances Walker, Patricia Seale and her husband Jack, Pauline Behlar and her husband Jimmy, and Cheryl Foster; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Rabalais and her husband Brad, Leah Templeton and her husband Michael, Stacey Evans, Jennifer Crosby, and Henry Crosby; 2 great grandchildren, Brayden Bordelon and Case Michael Templeton; and a host of family and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr.

Luke Lampton and Niki Wilkinson for the care and compassion shown to Mr. Philip through the years. Pallbearers were Kenny Pearson, Barry Rhodus, Stacy McCaskill, Quinn Travis, Clint Evans and Lloyd Simmons.

Honorary pallbearers were Rance Freeman, Nelson Hearn, Hollis Harrell and Ricky Sterling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to South McComb Baptist Church in his name.
