Philip J. Dell'Isola, 81, passed away at his residence on April 4, 2026 in Summit, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, from 9AM until services at 11AM at St. Alphonsous Catholic Church in McComb. Fr. Suresh Reddy Thirumalareddy and Fr. Patrick Garrity will officiate and a burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb will be in charge of arrangements.
Philip was born on August 11, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of the late Alfonso and Laura Carr Dell'Isola.
If you met Phil, you got the full experience. If you weren't so fortunate, these few words will not do him justice. His middle name should have been "Gregarious". Whether as a radio man in Mansfield, LA; a stage man in Nashville, TN; an ad man in McComb; or an insurance man in Morristown, TN, Phil was always and forever a communication man. Never one to avoid a conversation, Phil liked a good story… But he LOVED a long story (Even if you didn't).
Phil grew up in Brooklyn when the Dodgers were his home team. But when they left for L.A., he became a Yankees fan and never looked back. When family took the skinny little New York kid to the deepest South of Jackson, Mississippi, Phil embraced the move, becoming a Southerner for life, although he never did completely lose that Brooklyn accent.
College at Southern Miss turned his blood Black & Gold, but, most importantly, it introduced him to the one person crazy enough to marry him and spend 60 years together building a family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 happy years, Ida Lee McCalip Dell'Isola; 1 son, Philip J. Dell'Isola (Courtney); with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
