Mr. Richard E. VanNorman, 89, of McComb, passed from this life on Monday, July 20, 2026, peacefully at his home. He was born on January 9, 1937, to Albert Sidney VanNorman and Fannie Gertrude Matthews VanNorman.
Richard was a member of New Heights Baptist Church and a devout Christian. A lifelong reader, who found delight in exploring stories of every kind. He enjoyed watching classic westerns, no matter how many times he had seen them, and he loved to fish any chance he got.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 sons: Richard "Ricky" VanNorman, Jr., and Steve VanNorman; 6 brothers: James VanNorman, Alvin VanNorman, Herbert VanNorman, Jerry VanNorman, Dan VanNorman and Albert VanNorman Jr.; and his 2 sisters: Louise Dixon and Doris Brister.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia VanNorman; his 5 sons: Don VanNorman and his wife Maureen VanNorman, Tim VanNorman and his fiancee Michelle Perkins, Kevin VanNorman and his wife Teri VanNorman, Rodney Fleming and his wife Mary Fleming and Gary VanNorman; 14 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
