After a night of bad weather last Saturday night into Sunday, we were without electricity in some places, and it just happened our Church did not have electricity. We met at usual time and decided we would just go into our worship service without the electricity. Soon after we started our service, the electricity came on. We did have a very wonderful service, good music and heard God’s Word. Then Sunday night, we had the Church-wide Vacation Bible School Kick-off night. Everyone gathered in the fellowship hall for refreshments, and then enjoyed a movie “Justin and The Knights of Valor.”
Vacation Bible School will begin June 19 at 8:30 am until 12:00 noon and go through Friday. Family night will be held Friday night June 23 at 6:00 pm.
The Golden Ager for the week is JoAnn Cook so remember her with a card, call or visit this week. She is a resident of Camellia Estates, Hall E, Room 1, 1714 White St., McComb, MS.
The Golden Agers will travel to Poppa’s Fish House in Brookhaven for lunch Friday. Afterwards they will enjoy shopping at the thrift stores.
Some of our folks who need our prayers are Sammie Anglin, Elaine Williams Hutchins, Lewis Wallace, JoAnn Cook, Paul Reeves, Melvin Rhodus, Carey Ensminger, Gerald Ray Lea.
Rather than whining that we don’t have certain things in our lives or that something is wrong, we need to take positive action. Here are 4 steps toward turning whining into thanksgiving.
1. Give something away. When you give something, you create both a physical and a mental space for something new and better to come into your life. Although you may think you are “lacking” something in life, when you give you demonstrate you have abundance to spare.
2. Narrow your goals. Don’t expect everything good to come into your life all at once. When you focus your expectations toward specific and reachable goals, you are more apt to direct your time and energy toward reaching them.
3. Change your vocabulary from “I need” to “I want.” Most of things we think we need are actually things we want. When we receive them, we are more likely to be thankful for them as luxuries rather than necessities.
4. Choose to be thankful for what you already have. Thanksgiving is a choice we make. Every one of us has more things to be thankful for than we could begin to recount in a day, but we can always try!
God Bless till next week!
