Traitors Among Us

Recently a Rasmussen Reports survey found 47% of those likely to vote in November will vote to oppose President Trump's agenda. No surprise there. They've already tried to kill him at least four times during his second term. The survey found only 46% of likely voters say the economy is their most important issue. One might have thought the economy would have led popular voting issues since President Trump is not on the ballot.

Here we are in 2026, and we've lived through eleven years of continuous resistance against Donald Trump. Let's be fair. While Donald Trump is the singular issue or target of the resistance, his supporters are also guilty by association with MAGA. That's totally understandable. The part I don't understand is why all his vocal critics hate America. Surely he has some critics who don't hate America? Surely a majority of American citizens love America?

Nowadays Muslims and socialists have taken advantage of Democrats' hating all things Trump and have organized political campaigns on the left. They have so overwhelmed the political left that only a few Democrat politicians claim to be moderate or even progressive. Neither of those adjectives are sexy any more especially compared with socialist, communist, or Muslim.

As we approach another 911 anniversary, I remember the day and the weeks and months following. I was sad and angry, but mostly clueless why Islamic terrorists killed so many innocent people. I was even more confused when television news showed Muslims in faraway places rejoicing and dancing in celebrations of America's great loss. At the time, I didn't even know a Muslim, much less fear Muslims might become violent.

A lot has changed in the past 25 years. Seven years after the attack, Americans elected Barack Hussein Obama II. Americans are tolerant people. Many questioned whether Obama was a Muslim. That question was answered when Americans were introduced to Jeremiah Wright, President Obama's pastor in Chicago. Of course, that revelation raised even more questions when journalists quoted Reverend Wright's preaching.

ABC's Good Morning America and Fox News showed clips from Wright's sermon titled, "Confusing God and Government." Among many criticisms of our federal government, Wright lambasted America for failing to treat citizens of African descent fairly. He gave a history of how America had failed Blacks concluding with, "The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, not God Bless America. God damn America – that's in the Bible – for killing innocent people."

Needless to say, many Americans of all races were disturbed by Reverend Wright's language and damnation of America! Nevertheless, President Obama won a second term.

Memories of changes among Americans after 911 baffle me. But I do not doubt that many of those changing values and attitudes poisoned our culture, particularly through education and media, and destroyed our historical Judeo-Christian foundation.

Donald J. Trump enjoyed a positive reputation among elite celebrities and media before he emerged as a candidate for president. Now those same celebrities and media steadfastly oppose everything he proposes or does. And, they have opposed him from day one. Why?
